The Impact
The Public, Students, Employees...
The impact of the NCCHW and UNC Asheville's misconduct has far-reaching implications:

This public health and education program was funded by three different funders, totaling approximately $1 million in misused funds. Most significantly, this program was created using COVID-19 relief funds.
Scientific claims related to COVID-19 and education were made using falsified research. These falsifications involved manipulating student data, thereby exploiting student participation and violating their informed consent.

Science is supposed to be ethical and transparent, and misconduct should swiftly be met with accountability. However, UNC Asheville is doing everything in its power to avoid accountability and protect the NCCHW's culture of research misconduct and grant fraud.

UNC Asheville has demonstrated that if someone who works at UNCA speaks up about wrongdoing, that individual could face retaliation, including but not limited to intimidation and termination.
The NCCHW has created an illusion of scientific research with this program, and UNC Asheville is attempting to cover up this illusion through retaliation, deletion of research files, ignoring public records requests, and ignoring public outcry. This case affects the education and safety of university students, the protection of whistleblowers, the public, taxpayers, and organizations that provide funding.
