Meet Aidan Settman
Aidan Settman is a 24-year-old licensed private investigator, a PhD student at the University of Kent, and a former researcher at UNC Asheville.​
​
Aidan first worked for UNC Asheville in 2020 as a research assistant, where he contributed to the early research design of the SHA program. He was later rehired in 2023 as a researcher for the SHA program. After reporting research misconduct in 2024, Aidan faced retaliation, including intimidation, reputational damage, and termination. Aidan subsequently filed a whistleblower lawsuit.​​
​
Following this experience, Aidan pursued a career in investigative work, becoming a licensed private investigator in Kentucky and joining a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) within the private sector.​​​
​
Simultaneously, Aidan is pursuing a PhD in criminology. His doctoral studies involved fieldwork in Tbilisi, Georgia, where he worked with intravenous drug users and healthcare professionals to examine drug policy, drug enforcement, and social care systems in the Georgia.

Aidan currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky, and regularly travels to England for his doctoral work.​​
